Who we are

Vice President

Okello Gilbert is a Library and Information Science scholar pursuing a Ph.D. at Makerere University’s East African School of Library and Information Science. His research focuses on culturally rooted and indigenized information services, emphasizing Africa’s unique knowledge systems. He holds a Master of Information Science from Mount Kenya University and has over 15 years of expertise in information systems development, library science, and knowledge management.

Who We Are

 

The Uganda Library and Information Association (ULIA) is the national professional body that represents and brings together library and information science (LIS) professionals in Uganda. The Association serves as the central platform for individuals and institutions involved in the creation, management, and dissemination of information.

Advancing LIS profession : ULIA & CUUL Leaders Advocate for Recognition and Support at UVCF

During the Vice Chancellors Forum AGM at Kabale University on 17 Feb 25, Libraries in Uganda were given special consideration on the Agenda to make presentation to UVCF. Presentations were well received from ED RENU, EC CUUL and President ULIA. As a noble gesture the VC of Kabale University presented gifts to the presenters! Key discussions revolved around the pressing issues facing university libraries in Uganda and the need for collective action.
