Achievements and Milestones

Over our five-decade history, ULIA has achieved significant milestones in advancing library and information services in Uganda:

• Successfully advocated for the recognition of librarianship as a profession within Uganda's legal framework
• Established a vibrant professional network of over 500 members across the country
• Rejuvenated ULIA student chapters in library and information science programs
• Developed a comprehensive Framework for Strategic Action to guide the association's work through 2029
• Strengthened partnerships with government ministries, regulatory agencies, and development partners
• Contributed to the development of national policies affecting library and information services
• Organized numerous professional development workshops and training programs

Represented Uganda's library and information professionals at regional and international forums
